Daniel Gerdes will perform as Frederic in the Anna Maria Island Concert Chorus & Orchestra’s Sunday, March 22, production of “Pirates of Penzance” at Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, 6101 Cortez Rood W, Bradenton, at 2 p.m.

Gerdes, a native of Islip, N.Y., received his B.M. in vocal performance from Florida State University, his M.M. in vocal performance from New England Conservatory and completed his D.M.A. in vocal performance from Florida State University. He made his international debut as Paride in Gluck’s “Paride ed Elena” with Opera Pic­cola Bremen in Ger­many.

He was a Young Artist with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, where he covered the role of Pedrillo in “The Abduction from the Seraglio;” and returned to Opera Theatre of Saint Louis to sing the role of Spirit of the Masque in Britlen’s “Gloriana;” as well as Borsa in “Rigoletto.”

He was a young artist with The Merola Opera Program at San Francisco Opera, where he covered the role of Emesto in “Don Pasquale.”
