The orchestra and chorus ventures off the island with an all-Mozart program
February 19, 2015
Conductor Andrew Gershfeld and chorus master John W. Ferreira will lead the group through six Mozart compositions: the overture from the “Marriage of Figaro,” selections from “Symphony No. 23,” “Regina Coeli,” “Ave Verum Corpus,” “Serenade No. 2” and “Coronation Mass in C Major.”
Even if you don’t immediately recognize all the titles, you’ll probably know most of the music. It’s some of the greatest and most often-performed of all classical music in the world.
This is the first Bradenton concert for AMICCO, but officials are hoping it won’t be the last. They’re aiming to make it easier for audiences to get their shows, and they also want to relieve some of the traffic to and from the island. They always look for a good turnout for this shows, but they’d really like to see a good reception for their first visit to Bradenton.
Details: 2 p.m. Feb. 22, Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, 6101 Cortez Road, Bradenton. Tickets: $25. Information: 941-799-2181, amicco.org.
