"Sitting In." As part of our aim to reach out to the musical interests of
youth in the area we are inviting youth and other folk to sit in on the
Saturday morning dress rehearsal before a concert. These dress rehearsals
are held the day before each Sunday concert at the Crosspointe Fellowship (formerly the Island Baptist Church).
"Sitting in" is a great way of becoming acquainted with our organization, and there is no cost.
Come visit!
"An Occasional Reception too!" Once a year we host a post-concert reception
usually sponsored by a local institution or an individual in honor of
someone significant to AMICCO. This event usually takes place after the
February concert but not always. You can greatly help by volunteering
your time in planning, in getting your family members to help, and in doing
anything else you can to help us celebrate. Contact us--please.
"The Garden Tour." A garden tour to raise funds on behalf of AMICCO is
again being planned for the Spring of 2009. It will be the fifth in as many years.
It has been highly successful in attracting visitors who want to see some of
the showcase gardens of Anna Maria Island. We thank Karen and Harry
Lockwood and their dedicated committee for organizing this event and
generating such great spirit among all those who participated. We are
honored to have been the focus of their hard work!
"The Gem of the Island." Our February 10, 2009 concert marks our 16th year
of continuous concert seasons. Our musicians come from a wide geographical
area, many from Bradenton and Sarasota and beyond. Our supporters likewise
are widespread, with a key base in the Holmes Beach community. The Chorus
and Orchestra enjoys strong support from local and regional businesses who
have given generously to help us develop the quality of our performances.
With their help and with the dedication of our talented singers / musicians,
we are proud to have become known as "the Gem of the Island."
